“The finance company says it’s nothing to do with them”
Lenders sometimes point you back to the dealer. On HP and PCP agreements, the lender is usually responsible.
Who supplied your car?
On HP and PCP agreements the finance company normally owns the car and supplies it to you, so it is responsible if the car was not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose or not as described.
Being told to “take it up with the dealer” is a common first response, but it is not always correct.
If they still say no
Once a lender has issued its final response, or eight weeks have passed since your complaint, you can refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service free of charge.
